Struggling to navigate the confusing lingo of business finances is an issue for past you. At The CFO's Table, money isn't taboo, and all questions are encouraged. You don't have to hide behind the shame of not knowing something that you think everyone else does (because plot twist, a lot of business owners are in the dark, too).
Here, we cherish open conversation because it's key to building you up in your role as CFO—a role you deserve to be good at.
Taste of what goes down during a typical month at The CFO'sTable
Our monthly co-working call where we get our bookkeeping + prep work done ahead of the party.
Our monthly workshop where we review our numbers, learn, and chit chat about the month's theme.
Your host (me) is available all month long in Circle for questions, thoughts, and other money musings.
We celebrate the first of every month with our monthly menu drop—all the happenings (themes, resources and events) for the month.
I never aspired to a flashy corporate career. The truth is my relationship with accounting originated from a deep desire for peace. As a first-gen American, I craved financial security. I wanted to understand how to invest and grow wealth like the families I saw around me doing. But since grade school education fails miserably on the financial education front, I had to take it into my own hands.
And so, I got a Bachelors in Accounting. Then a Masters. Then my CPA license. Then I dipped. Because the accounting world can get a bit boring, and I wanted my life to be anything but that.
At the end of the day, accounting was always a means to an end for me. Something that could teach me the foundations to building a life I have control over. It helped me build my business and my dream life. I used it to create my own peace.
And now I help others do the same.
First, if you have a good one, don’t replace your bookkeeper. This membership is meant to be a supplement to their work. They do the accounting magic, and we spend time digging into the beautiful financial statements they provide. In the membership, you’ll work on understanding and using your numbers to make intentional business decisions.
And as the business owner, you hold the vision, making you the best person to be the CFO of your business. With the big picture in mind, the right data, and a bit of guidance, you’re more than capable of making intentional decisions for your business.
The ideal guest is someone who is willing to get curious with their numbers and learn. We’re bringing the resources, the teachings, and the accountability, but it’s up to you to want to take responsibility over your finances. You bring the right energy to the table and I promise you, it’ll be *chef’s kiss*
Financial education is essential to your confidence as a business owner, but financial education can also be a snooze-fest. We focus on both the mindset and the practical knowledge. Here are a few upcoming topics:
—Identifying your money-weaknesses (because it’s okay to have them)
—Auditing your expenses so that what you’re spending on *makes sense*
—Making business comfy with financial cushions
—Spending plans (and how to follow them)
—Projecting out income so you know what’s coming
—Understanding S-Corps — the benefits and responsibilities that come with it
—Profitability by offer — making sure *all* your services are making you money
Yes, yes, and yes. You have access to me all month long via the Bookkeeping Hotline in Circle, and our monthly prep calls are scheduled at the beginning of each month so that we can wrap up the month’s books with you. Whether it’s to provide accountability or answer your questions, I’ll be here to make sure your bookkeeping gets done.
We support guests with our DIY bookkeeping template (perfect for those not wanting to venture into a software just yet) or answer questions for those of you already in the big leagues (QuickBooks or Xero).
Keep in mind: This is DWY bookkeeping support, not Accounting 101. If your business has hit a certain level of complexity, I won’t shy away from telling you that it’s time for a professional handle it.
I don’t know about you, but I like to know what’s on the menu ahead of time. At the start of each quarter, I’ll be dropping the upcoming monthly themes so that you’ll get a taste of what’s to come.
